CEX.IO was founded in 2013 in London, where it’s still based in. The company started as a provider for cloud-mining, specialized in Bitcoin. It owned the Gash.io cloud-mining pool and with it around 42% of the whole mining power in the year 2014. In 2015 they decided to close the mining-pool and started the crypto exchange.

On the exchange one can trade Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold, Dash, Ripple, Stellar and Zcash. Several of these cryptocurrencies can also be bought with British pound and you can also buy Bitcoin with the rouble. The platform offers a feature similar to a currency exchange. Bitcoins and Ethereum are bought directly by Cex, though when exchanging directly the rates are a bit worse overall. Payments can be done via credit card and bank transfer. Fees depend on the trading volume and can vary between 0,10% and 0,25%. The basic account enables a daily trading volume of $400 and a monthly volume of $2.000. The verified account enables $10.000 a day and $100.000 a month.
